Wednesday morning. Bubba Bart woke everyone up at 8 AM. He doesn’t respond to our good mornings, he can’t hear. By the way, our chaperones are great…we love them.
Annette, Caitie, Devin, and Sir cooked everyone a delicious breakfast of French toast and bacon. Patrick opened the day with devotions.
We made a lunch, no fruit, and headed out to Crescent City , California ! Yup, Its BEACH DAY! We’re all super excited and a little nervous to dawn the wet suits and try out surfing. Either way, catching rays and laying on the sandy beach should be delightful. (More to follow)
We’re sitting in McDonalds eating ice cream and enjoying the free internet, all sad our day of surfing is done. What an amazing experience!
After squishing into wet suits, literally squishing, we feel much more bonded if that’s possible. Apparently they show off every nook and cranny :S Yikes! Bart insists he was the only one who looked good. We got our surf boards and headed to the beach. The guys tried out the surfing first after a quick surfing 101 lesson from Mr. H. The girls cheered wildly as the guys got up and plopped, got up and plopped…some were much funnier than others. Then it was the girls turn. There’s nothing like that first wave crashing over you, filling your eyes, your mouth and nose with the saltiest water we’ve ever known! We coughed and sputtered as our eyes burned and throats stuck with salt, but we kept getting up and coming back for more. We put in hours of effort for those couple times that we actually managed to get up and ride a wave… What a rush! There was much yelling and laughing through it all at some peoples antics and crazy wipe outs. Unfortunately, Shawn had a bad turn and cut the bottom of his toes L Julia and Janine did their best to doctor him, but it still hurts to walk. Hope it gets better by the morrow. There is nothing like the ocean here in California . We will all definitely sleep well tonight as our arms, legs and eyes ache! Our heads are still swimmy but we can’t stop grinning. What a great day! JWell worth the fundraising, planning, driving, bruises, and other battle scars. Over and out!
